9th Month Updates
Anvith turned 9 months old on 15th of November..He's only 3 months away from turning an year old!! Anvith has learnt lot of things during this month like crawling, standing and has become much more expressive. Here is an update from this month:
- Anvith's mamma proudly announces that now Anvith can stand on his own feet :) Of course, he needs something to hold on to, but he seems to be wanting to stand all the time now. The moment he is put down on the floor or cot, he just crawls quickly to the nearby sofa, chair or window and attempts to stand up. From crawling position he gets on to the knees first and then pulls himself up holding onto the sofa or cot or window grill. He looses balance sometimes and falls down but in the next minute he's trying to stand up again. He even attempts to hold on to our legs and stand up.
- Another major development during this month has been that Anvith has started to crawl. So far, he was only doing military style crawling or what is called tummy crawling but now he can do the real crawling. One day it so happened that, he was doing the tummy crawling and he did not have his clothes on. The floor was a bit wet and Anvith was getting goosebumps because he was feeling too cold at the stomach. So what he did was he pulled his stomach/chest up and supported his body on the hands and knees and started moving forward :) He still prefers tummy crawling because he can move much faster that way but sometimes he does the real crawling whenever he 's in the mood :)
- He knows to imitate us. He observes our actions with great concentration and imitates our action. If we move our head from right to left, he also does the same. If we stick our tongue out, he also does that. If we make a fist, wave our hands, shake hand he also does that. He even tries to give me a kiss. He brings his face close to my cheeks and touches his lips to my cheek. I just love it when he does this.
- We have started toilet-training for Anvith. Whenever he is awake, every 10-15 mins we take him to the toilet and say "chucchu" and he pees! It takes a while for him to pee but he ends up doing it most of the time with success rate being 7/10.
- All of a sudden he gets hyper and starts screaming. Many times it has so happened that I will be inside a grocery store or mall or doctor's clinic and Anvith is calm and happily watching people around him. All of a sudden he screams at the top of his voice and everyone around us starts staring at me thinking what I did to my baby. I feel so embarrassed and just give a smile :) Last week we had taken Anvith to his pediatrician for 9th month vaccine. Doctor took the syringe from the fridge and was filling it with the vaccine and all of a sudden Anvith screamed and said "aaeeey" as if he was trying to protest it!
- Anvith has become a fan of TV. He loves watching the advertisements and news headlines. No matter how busy he is with his toys or drinking milk etc, the moment the ads start on the TV or the udaya news starts, he never misses watching it. He watches news headlines with so much concentration that even if we call him ten times he doesn't look at us! He loves the music they put when the udaya news starts.
- When Naveen and myself get dressed up and Anvith is not, he knows that we are leaving him and going to office and makes a :( face. He becomes so sad that no matter what we do, he just doesn't smile. When my mom brings him near the gate to wave goodbye to us, he watches us silently that I find it difficult to say bye to him and leave. The emotions in his eyes are clearly visible. His eyes convey the message clearly asking us not to leave him and go!
"My baby, I just want to tell you that I know it's difficult for you and it is difficult for me too to be departed from you. But I love you so much and it is a necessity that I have to leave you and go to work. You are my life. Please do not feel sad. Mumma will make up for all the lost time when she comes back in the evening and plays with you, take you for a walk etc. Mumma keeps waiting to see her putta all the time in office!!"
- He's obsessed with the window in our bedroom. The moment he is put on the cot, he quickly crawls near the window and stands holding onto the grill and even tries to open the window. He just stands there watching the world outside the window for a long long time. It becomes very difficult to dress him up/change his diaper when he is put on the cot since he moves much faster towards the window.
- Mom has become his all time favorite. If I am there he just doesn't like going to anyone else. He clings on to me so tightly that if anyone tries to pull him towards themselves, he just holds my dress with a tight grip and moves his head in opposite direction conveying not to separate him from me. I am enjoying this phase as long as it lasts.
- Teething: He has got 1 more tooth at the lower side making a total of 5 teeth. Another tooth at the upper side is about to bud. As per advise from Doc we have started to gently brush his teeth using a tooth brush and Anvith just loves it. If I move toothbrush towards his mouth, he opens his mouth and enjoys it when I move around the brush. After a while I handover the brush to him, and he puts it into his mouth and starts biting :)

Happy B'day to My Hubby, My Sis and Me
October has always been a special month for me because my hubby, my sis, myself and many of my friends share our birthdays in this month which means lots of treats, exchange of gifts, eating unlimited pastries etc etc.
On 11th of October, we celebrated my hubby Naveen's bday. First time after Anvith is born we went out for a family lunch. We went to Barbeque Nation@Koramangala after a visit to Ragigudda Temple at Jayanagar. Anvith had a royal escort@BBQNation by the receptionists there who were waiting to hold Anvith in their arms whenever they got a chance :)
On 18th of this month, it was my sis Amitha's bday. Missed her a lot this time since she is far away from us in Malaysia now. Since both my sister's and my b'day fall on close dates (mine on 22nd), during childhood days we used to celebrate our b'days together on 20th Oct. We used go to venkatramana temple first to take blessings from god and then visit the hotel "Diana" nearby to eat yummy Gadbad (mixed-flavoured ice-cream) after which we used to cut a cake at home and end the day by eating our favourite payasam prepared by mom. We both had different sweets as our favorite (my sis fav was kadle-bele payasa and mine was godhi-payasa) and mom used to prepare only 1 payasam on that day and one of us often used to fight over it :) Most of the time it was my sis favorite (I know she would say otherwise :D ) and I used to fight telling that mom prepared it because she loves my sister more than me !!!
Finally, I celebrated my b'day yesterday. This b'day was so special because I celebrated it with 3 very special people in my life - my amma, my hubby and my baabu Anvith. I missed having my dad and my sis around so much. I wish next year they too will join me making it a complete family. Naveen and myself took a leave yesterday. 2 of us went out to Chung Wah for a late lunch. Evening I took Anvith and my mom to Total Mall at SJP Road, after which Anvith and me cut a cake. Few pictures here:

8th Month Updates
Anvith turned 8 months old on Oct 15th. This month has been a transition month for him since a lot of changes have happened wrt to his bedtime routines, feeding schedules, bathing times etc due to me getting back to work. Along with this, I have cut-down on breastfeeding him during the day time. I feed him only once in the morning, noon and eve and on-demand during night time. Luckily, anvith has responded quite well to this change and I am much more confident now to leave him with my mom and concentrate on work. Here are the updates from previous month:
1) He can sit without support for upto 5 minutes at a stretch now, after which he falls to one side. He knows to balance him quite well and as soon as he realizes that he is loosing balance, he tries to put his hand down on the floor to support him from hitting the floor. He is still not perfect in it and ends up banging on the floor at times.
2) He has got 2 upper teeth now making a total of 4 teeth. He was drooling big time when his top teeth was about to pop out. He has started grinding his teeth a lot these days and I am worried about this habit of his. I am waiting for next visit to pediatrician to check if this is normal or not.
3) He clearly shows how much he loves his parents. When Naveen and me are with him and any of us go away from him, he starts crying and won't stop until the person who left has come back. He makes us feel so special when we come from office by giving us a cute smile and spreading his arms wide open and giggling in an attempt to be lifted. When we lift him, he jumps with joy. If I don't lift him as soon as I get into the house, he starts crying. I have to play hide-n-seek with him to keep him distracted until I freshen up and go to him.
4) He has become much more social person. We had gone to Barbeque Nation for lunch last week since it was Naveen's bday and the receptionists there were very keen to carry Anvith and take him with them to show around the place away from us. Anvith was so happy with them and did not fuss even for a minute. He was smiling all the time. Same thing happened when he met one of
my friend for the first time. As soon as my friend extended her arms to carry Anvith, he leaned towards her to be lifted.
5) He crawls much faster. If I call him from the extreme end of the room, he comes crawling within seconds. He comes near me, catches my feet and looks upward and smile at me. I love watching him when he rushes towards me and I take him and shower him with hugs and kisses.
6) He responds when we call him by his pet names. We never call him Anvith at home. We call him as Gunda, Gundanna, Putta, Baabu and by n more names but never call him Anvith :) And whenever we call him by any these names, no matter how busy he is playing with his toys, he looks at the person who called his name. But when we call him Anvith, he doesn't respond :(
7) He also knows the name of few objects (atleast thats what I think). When I ask him "Where is Fan" he looks at the fan, When someone asks him "where is amma" he looks at me and When I say "chami deva" (god in konkani baby language), he looks at the pooja room. He doesn't do this every time but has done it many times.
8) He says "amma", "mamma", "babba", "ajja" and few more things which I don't understand.
Another 4 months and he will be a year old!! Gosh....Time is running faster than ever :(

I'm on Cloud 9
Any guesses why ????
Because Anvith called me "Amma" for the first time today. He said it again and again looking at me. There was no mistake in what I heard. He was loud and clear.
Today afternoon after lunch myself and my hubby were playing with Anvith on our cot for some time as usual. He was in a happy mood and was babbling something in his own language. After a while I got up from the bed ready to get back to office. When I was about to leave the room, Anvith looked at me and said "mmmmaaaa". I couldn't believe my ears. When I turned back, he said it again. And then again. The look in his eyes told me that he wanted to play with me for some more time and thats why he called me. He has been practicing saying amma from quite few days but he couldn't get the proper pronounciation and ends up calling me "avva", "abba", "babba", "mammm", "vavva" etc. But today is a special day. He said those golden words which I have been longing to hear from his mouth. There are no words to describe how I felt at that moment. I was on top of the world.
My baby has started learning to communicate using words! Gosh! I am already waiting to hear more and more words from his mouth....
Love you Anvith for making me feel so special.

Trip to Melkote
Last weekend we had visited the place Melkote near Mandya district. A trip to Melkote was in our minds for a long time, more than 2 years. It is said that it will not be easy to visit Melkote as per our wish and it needs the call from the Cheluvanarayanaswamy and we thought this saturday was that day!!! The weather was also quite good and I wanted a good break before I get busy with my new assignment at work. Melkote just around 150km from Bangalore and is one of the sacred places in Karnataka.
We took about 4 hours to reach the place and just on time before the temple could get closed. We had to wait for almost 20 mins in the queue for the darshana of diety. Anvith was quite happy to wait in the queue since he had lot of people and things to look at which he had never seen before. He also put some kanike to the hundi there later :) After the darshan we headed to another temple which is on top of a hill. The car goes only till the half of the hill and for the remaining distance we need to climb the stairs. It was tiresome part to climb the stairs carrying Anvith since the steps were pretty steep and a slight slip would prove dangerous. Naveen and myself carried Anvith in turns. The view of the city from the top of the hill was awesome. We couldn't spend much time there since it was getting cloudier and too windy and we didn't have umbrella too. Since it had started drizzling by the time we finished darshan, we couldn't even get the yummy-so-tasty puliyogare they serve there as parasadam :( After the lord darshan and clicking of few snaps, we rushed back to vehicle parking space. It drizzled for just 5-10 mins and the weather became sunny.
We then visited a place called "Akka-tangi kola" and kalyani lake nearby. On the way back, we saw Iyengaars tiffen centre and headed inside to eat the puliyogare there, since we had heard not to miss the famous puliyogare at Melkote. It is supposed to be one of the best puliyogare you get there. Naveen liked it a lot and had 2 plates of it and my tummy was full by the time I finished the first plate itself. Anvith was an instant hit among the people who had come to have food there. Most of them wanted to carry Anvith and Anvith also was happy to go to them. It was 3 by the time we finished lunch and then straight away headed back to Bangalore without any break. We reached home at 7PM, damn tired, sleepy and hungry.
Here are few snaps taken:
